The River Training Weekend provides the team with hands-on knowledge of how to read and navigate the power of a river.  They will practice ferrying, eddying out, finding v’s, and avoiding rocks and strainers. A very good learning experience for the first time paddler and a necessary refresher for the experienced paddler.

Tentative Schedule:

Sat. (Mother’s Day Weekend)

7:30 a.m. meet at Sloatsburg Community Field* ------------------->

Travel to Kittatinny Campground, Barryville, NY

Canoe Sat. 10-4 & Sun 10-4

Depart for home 5 pm Sunday.

Pick-up at Camp Addisone Boyce unless otherwise noted.

Land Crew:

Shuttle cars from put-in back to Kittatinny on Sat.

Set up campsite and tents.

Prepare dinner Sat.

Prepare Breakfast Sunday

Water Crew:

Paddle with the team

This is not a family camping event and only parents willing to help out with either the land crew or the water crew are encouraged to join us.

Family tents are needed.

Cost is $25-$30 which includes the camping fee of $14@ and food.
